Dr. Kane’s Bio
Susan Mohini Kane is a working musician and a practicing yogini (a woman who does yoga and meditation).
As a musician Kane holds degrees from The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the position of Professor Emerita from California State University, Los Angeles, and she has sung and taught professionally for decades. She has two CDs available on Spotify, iTunes, etc. and has written a book about being a singer in the world called: The 21st-Century Singer - Making the Leap from the University into the World (Oxford, 2015). Kane’s students are singing professionally all over the world and her book is used as a text book for musicians who want to become professionals after graduating from university.
Kane has dedicated her life to uplifting the world by singing and teaching voice.
As a yogini, Mohini (her spiritual name that means “enchantress”) started practicing yoga in 1986 and is still practicing. Kane practices Siddha Yoga which includes following the teachings of a Siddha, or an enlightened being, and meditation, chanting, studying inspiring texts, hatha yoga, and contemplation. Over the decades her practice of yoga has given her stunning clarity about the power of music as a positive force in the world. Kane attributes her deep understanding of the power of music equally to her many musical experiences and to her studies in yoga.
